On January 9, 2017, the 2016 National Science and Technology Awards Conference was held in the Great Hall of the People, and the results of the highly anticipated 2016 National Science and Technology Awards were announced.

      The "Multi-interface light-thermal coupling white LED packaging optimization technology" completed by Professor Liu won the second prize of National Technology Invention.

National Technology Invention Award evaluation criteria:

 The evaluation of the National Technological Invention Award of the People’s Republic of China examines the technological inventions made by candidates from the degree of difficulty and complexity, the degree of novelty of technical ideas, the degree of technological innovation, the degree of advancement of major technical and economic indicators, and the promotion of technological progress. It also comprehensively evaluates of the degree of promotion and application, economic or social benefits and development and application prospects, etc. The award level shall be determined accordingly.

The basic evaluation criteria are as follows:

(1) The first prize

It is a major technological invention pioneered at home and abroad, with unique technical ideas, major technological innovations, technical and economic indicators reaching the leading level of similar technologies, promoting technological progress in related fields, and having produced significant economic benefits or Social benefits.

(2) The second prize

It is the first domestic and foreign major technological invention, or a major technological invention that has existed at home and abroad but has not yet been disclosed, with novel technical ideas, large technological innovations, and technical and economic indicators that have reached the advanced level of similar technologies. It has a driving effect on technical advance and has produced obvious economic or social benefits.
